Stator voltage too high?
2007 xl1200r
I followed the sticky on testing the charging system. I'm pretty sure my regulator is toast (shows over 11vdc on my meter). I'm also fairly certain my battery is on the way out; although it passes the Autozone test, it drops well below 10.5vdc (8.5vdc) while the starter is turning. Finally, with my multimeter set to 200vAC, the stator is putting out about 32vAC at 1500rpm and about 48vAC at 2000 rpm. According to the sticky, it says I should expect about 16-20vAC per 1000rpm, but according to my dealership mechanic, my stator should be fine. Anyone have rock-solid info on that?
