HOLY CRAP, I gotcha now! I've got an S&S air cleaner, didn't realize the breathers were hollowed out bolts behind the filter cover! I'll pull the air cleaner apart and get things sorted tomorrow when it's light out. Given the other things I've been finding from the PO I'll be shocked if the breathers weren't replaced with regular bolts. In trying to resolve this I've found a list of about 10 other things needing attention before this things safe to hit the road again.

You guys helped A LOT. THANKS!!!

I wasn't blind OR crazy!

The idiot previous owner HAD replaced the vents with standard bolts!

Just ordered this to fix the problem. Luckily I only rode the bike a short time after buying it last week before finding this! THANKS AGAIN for all your help and knowledge!

As you can see... Myrtle Beach Bike Week will be taking a day off for rain anyway.

What an idiot the PO is. You could do some serious damage to you bike with those breathers blocked.

yup not good. good thing you caught that. i have the stock bolts but they are from a 2009 883 engine so i have no idea if they would help you out. would have let you have them if you paid shipping. that breather kit will work for you though.

I have a 92 just took off my old bolts off and yeh they connect to two tubes then to a T then one hoes runs down under the frame. The long hose ran under the seat is the crank case breather hose I removed mine from under the seat and poked it out the side of the seat in front of the oil pan now my seat doesnt get nearly as hot as it use to you might want to consider that.

I appreciate the offer Iron.

Just glad I noticed this before any apparent damage was done! The bike doesn't burn or leak a drip of oil running or sitting, and it actually runs, idles, and pulls GREAT other than a lifter tap under light cruising (what got me investigating everything to begin with). I've learned the tap is because the PO also decided removing the VOES switch was a smart thing to do.
AND he left the vacuum line that went to the VOES hanging open to atmosphere.

I've also been fixing and adjusting away a dozen other previous owner induced problems to. But a 8,000 mile bike with over a grand worth of aftermarket goodies, for under $3K... I can't cry to much over it.

And SOMEHOW, for the 100 miles I have ridden it.. It's actually performed REALLY WELL!

I love my 1991, I think they were a very good year. Of course, I am a bit biased.
