Yep My light turns on around 98. I try to get gas at 120. Have pushed it to 140. But I don't want to be that guy on the side of the road out of gas, So it's 120 and fill up. I get 53 mile to the gal. so I think I could do 150 safe.
The 2013 has a 3.3 gallon tank supposedly. I get 85 miles on a tank of gas. Would like something larger. I'm looking for someone who has done this to theirs already and can show me some pics. I am dead set on keeping the peanut tank look. I saw one at J&P cycles that was 4.5 gallons, but not sure if its a peanut shape or not. Does anyone have any pics of their sportster tank upgrades they would mind sharing? Thanks.
You just got a conversion right? At first you will get awful mileage until it's broken in. I only got 25mpg out of my first tank of gas but mpg kept creeping up with every tank until it got to about 45mpg in the city and about 55 on the highway. I wouldn't do anything rash until your conversion is completely broken in. It took me about 1000 miles before I started getting the consistent mileage that I'm getting now. Keep in mind I had my cylinders bored while you have new 1250 cylinders, but I'm pretty confident that your mileage will get better after break in.

I usually fill up around 100 miles or so on my 3.3 tank. I usually put in 2.1-2.3 gallons. But if you can only get 85 miles on the tank....there might be an underlying issue with the bike.
The low fuel light on these bikes is very conservative. On my bike it usually comes on around 100 miles like everyone else. The furthest I have ever pushed it was 157 miles and when I filled up put 2.9 gallons in the tank. For me personally on my bike 157 miles is more than enough YMMV.
I just had a fuel gauge installed on it yesterday. It is giving me a much better idea of how much fuel I really have in the tank. Thanks for help everybody. I guess I won't be needing a different tank after all.
