Default Will these hurt my engine?

Hello,

I have a 2005 883 with 7500 miles. I just ordered a set of cycle shack mufflers. I plan on installing them tomorrow. From what I understand, I will not have to rejet since I am just changing the mufflers. With these new pipes hurt my engine? Will it run too hot or something? Or will it be fine. I have the stock air cleaner and jetting

your bike will be fine. I would pick up some new port gaskets to replace the old ones. they are meant to me a one time use compression gasket. shouldnt cost any more the $10 for 2

I just put these on my Iron. All I can say is they are LOUD! Perhaps I am just used to my touring bike where the sound is behind you but these things sound like straight pipes.

I originally wanted them since they were loud, but I'm just worried about times when I don't want them to be! Like if I leave early in the morning or come home late at night. Oh we'll, it's a motorcycle right, it's supposed to be loud. Luckily I have good neighbors.

Come on, PD.

If you are just installing slip on mufflers, no exhaust port gasket should be needed AFIK.

You owe it to yourself to upgrade the air intake and re-jet, how many posts are about that on this site?

Unleash the monster within.

Exhaust gaskets, no, but he most likely will need the crossover gaskets.

I've put on a set of the Cycle Shacks last year, not the slip ons, the full muffler pipes, but the baffles are the same design, and sound just like the slip ons. They are loud, louder than the SE mufflers I've heard, but not as loud as straight drag pipes or short shots. If you are easy on the throttle, you won't disturb the neighborhood too badly, I leave for work before 6am and have not had any complaints. Just leave the baffles in.

Have straight pipes on a 2000 xlh, the sound is nice but performance was better with the stock exhaust w/crossover pipe

I have the same slip ons and exhaust port gaskets are needed when you replace your slip ons. Even if you manage to get them off in one solid peice, there is no way they will function the way they are suppose to if you reuse them. Mine cost $8 so why not replace them.

These pipes are very nice for the cost and yes they will be loud but like my dad always told me, loud pipes save lives.
