I've been happy with my VO2, no issues and I get some compliments on it. I have different pipes, Cycle Shacks, so no comment on the combo, but I did have to rejet when I added VO2.
If I had to do it over again, I'd take a hard look at the DK Outlaw A/C over the VO2.

No, I didn't need to rejet with just the exhaust, I did adjust the idle mixture screw a little. I rode like that for a few months before upgrading the air intake, once I did that, I did rejet.
When I rejetted, all I did was replace the stock 42 with a 45, left the other jet as is. Total cost was $8, no fancy kit is required. My '06 is a 1200, yours may be different.
