no-start troubleshooting
Hey... i'm a new rider who could use some help...
I've got a 2012 Iron 883 that isnt starting. I've done some basic troubleshooting:
1: made sure the battery is charged. The battery has a full charge.
2: I was out of town for a week and it sat, untouched.
3: Once the power was turned over, the fuel pump initiates but when I press the ignition I get nothing... not even the dreaded ” clicking” sound (from a weak or dead battery).
Note: I did ensure the bike is in neutral, which is reflected by the gear indicator...
I'm a new bike owner and don't know much shout trouble shooting besides the basics, if that. I would appreciate any advice.

somewhere between half and 3/4 tank...
but i think if the tank was empty the engine would still try and turn over, wouldnt it? ...I get nothing. its bizarre. the lights are on so I know I have a good battery connection (and a full battery).
the bike is responding as if its "in gear" and i'm trying to start it without holding the clutch in (I should get no response in that scenario).
I have shifted through the gears and back to neutral to make sure its not an electrical "false positive"...
the bike is completely covered under warranty, i was just trying to figure it out on my own rather than towing it to my local dealership.

after stepping away for a few hours I have a new "symptom":
I noticed that when I turn the bike 'on' the turn signals flash as if the bike's security system is on. This usually only happens when I turn the bike off or walk away from the bike with the sensor on my person...
could the security system on the bike have errored out or something?

I was having a starting issue with my bike and the dealership told me to cycle the ignition by turning it on, then back off 3 times. If that doesn't work disconnect then reconnect the battery to reset the ECM.
My bikes problem turned out to be a bad relay but with mine the fuel injection wouldn't engage.

how do you know that your battery has a full "charge"? Did you take it out and test it? Did you recharge it for at least 10-14 hours then retry? The reason i ask is my 48 would also not start after about 6 months, displaying the same symptoms you have. I went out and bought a new battery from the dealer and still it would not start. I had to charge it over night then my bike started no problem.

...now thats a new option for me. I havent changed the battery in my FOB.
additionally for the previous recommendations:
i will try disconnecting/reconnecting the battery today (I previously only checked the connections to make sure I didnt have a lose connection - they were not loose).
Also, I cannot exactly say that my battery has a "full charge", however the battery charger that I bought from my local Harley shop has an LED light indicator that started out showing red. After about 45 minutes of charging, the LED light turned to green, so i presume that is telling me the battery has a full charge.
