additionally for the previous recommendations:

i will try disconnecting/reconnecting the battery today (I previously only checked the connections to make sure I didnt have a lose connection - they were not loose).

Also, I cannot exactly say that my battery has a "full charge", however the battery charger that I bought from my local Harley shop has an LED light indicator that started out showing red. After about 45 minutes of charging, the LED light turned to green, so i presume that is telling me the battery has a full charge.
Just because its green after 45 mins doesn't mean its completely charged up. Mine turned green after 2 hours the first time. I was impatient and put it back on my bike. Tried to start and this time it tried to turn over but it wouldn't. then i got clicks to follow and then nothing all over again. I put it back on the charger for about 10-16 hours then tried it again and its been working ever since. You definitely have to have some patience when dealing with an undercharged battery.

Also if you want to try something different. You can leave your negative connected to the battery while its in your bike, then connect your charger to the positive lead and hook the negative up to any part of your frame. Then after about 6 hours while the charger is still hooked up try starting the bike then. If it sounds weak then you need to leave it alone for another 6 hours or so. This way works best for me now, because its a pain in the rear-end to keep taking the battery in and out.

I just literally had the same issue with my bike 2012 72 last week. Identical problem.

It was the start button on mine. They replaced it and everything seems fine now.

I know this is something I am sure you have checked and I don't want to come off sounding like I am calling you and idiot, but, have you checked your "run/off" switch on your right handlebar controls? I know of so many new users that have had this problem only to find out they forgot to turn the switch back to the "run" position.
