While we are talking about this, can I remove the god awful "warning" spikes on my irons pegs? they look like ****.

Yes, you can do whatever you want to your bike. Those are just there so you drag those first instead of the actual peg.

They screw in, you just need a suitable wrench. They are a darned nuisance, as it is easy to catch your leg on them, just moving around in the garage.

Got it thanks. I wasnt sure if they were screwed in or if they were part of the peg.

Both my Buell and Sporty came with them. Removing the spikes was the first thing I did to both bikes when getting home for the first time!
