Default Engine ang Battery light came on?

First of all my bike is Sportster XL883N 2012, I bought brand new and now it has 3449 miles already. I just change oil last month, and drive my bike after that for many times until yesterday.
this is what happen I rode my bike to work about 25 miles back and forth so I was going home already and suddenly my engine and battery light came on in seconds while I was making a left turn. So I ignore it maybe just a mulfunction. But today it happen again engine and battery light came on in seconds while I'm making a left turn again after around 24 miles of driving. Now it puzzled me what is wrong on my baby. Do you think maybe I'm low of motor oil...because I look up my oil gauge when i got home it has more than half btween full and low sign. I used full synthetic oil.

any idea please..thanks!

sounds like voltage regulator. you under warranty? if so, have it checked. if not, indy or do it yourself with a manual. far as your oil, should be in middle of dipstick...to high and it will come out the breather. good luck getting it fixed

First make sure that both battery terminals are securely connected. Also make sure the ground wire is properly secured to the frame. They jiggle loose all the time.

I have a '12 Iron and had the exact same symptoms. Started about 2 weeks after I picked it up and the battery eventually died, took it to the dealer and it was the voltage regulator. I think they issued a recall on them late last year if I'm not mistaken.. It maybe worth a look.

There was a recall on the voltage regulator. When I had my 1000 service done on my 2012 Iron they replaced it for free. Get that sucker checked out. I never had a problem with mine. but if they're gonna replace it for free...why not.

THANKS FOR ALL REPLY...anyway, it took me a while to bring my bike to the dealer because i run my bike vin# to the recall list and my bike is not showing. so i tried to fixed what causing this problem, checked all the cable everything is tight. i used my car voltage tester to checked my voltage is 12.6 when turn on and between green line when idle so still okay. but then the problem is when i drived more than 20 miles the problem start my engine and batt light comes on and off.

finally, i decided to bring my bike to the service dealer and explained to them what is going on to my bike and mentioned to them about the recall to this bike regarding VOLTAGE REG AND STATOR they run my bike to their system and told me my bike is not on the production recalled list. so i'm worried and already starting thinking $$$ until the guy told me if that is the case the voltage reg or the stator is the problem. my bike still under warranty so i dont have to pay nothing, and they asked me to leave my girl for a day or so. its good it took them only 1 day to fixed the problem. woowee! i have to reunited with her again i'm so excited to see her.. so when i got there i asked them what causing the problem and told me i have a BAD VOLTAGE REGULATOR...and they replaced it with no cost... i did'nt spend any penny..wow! that is awesome feeling.
until right now everything is running good...THANK YOU FOR ALL THE REPLIES! SEE YOU SOON!
