Thinking about a Seventy Two....
I have been lurking for a few weeks now around here. I have never owned a Harley, but my father has had them since the early 70's. I currently own a Triumph Scrambler.
I am obsessed with the 72 at the current time. What is the real world feedback as I am close to pulling the trigger. Of course all my friends are calling me a sellout as I have been on Euro bikes for 15 years (Ducati, Triumph). I really dont care what they say anymore. I want what i want.
I am thinking black as I then can have it painted any color I want down the road. Love the red flake but dont love the huge Harley and 72 logos on it.
Should I pull the trigger?
Thanks!

I absolutely love mine for what it is. I ride mine everyday to work when the weather permits, and I am very pleased with it. Many complain about seat comfort, but I only have an issue with sliding off, and might eventually switch to a seat that has a more pronounced cup/back to prevent this. The stock shocks would be on my list of improvements, but I actually like the occasional jolt I get from bumps, helps me to refocus on staying alert to the task at hand. I just recently performed the Stage 1 upgrade and the improvement is well worth the money. just my opinion good luck on choosing a bike that fits your needs and wants.
I sometimes fantasize about having a "touring" bike with bags and a larger tank to take cross country tours on with comfort in mind, but I am currently married with a young child, so even getting out on a weekend for 2-3 hours is about the best I can do for now... one day I might buy my tourer, but never plan on selling my 72

I have owned my 72 for almost 8 months now. I love it. I ride mine to/from work, as well as every min I can, rain shine or hail (that one sucked). I ride with my wife twoup all the time. Get some RK shocks though if u plan on riding it often. I've done more than a couple 8+ hours rides on mine. Just carry a gas can on the bed roll, plan your route and your fine!

That was my next question. The lack of fuel in the tank. I will be using it for commuting and weekend rides. But I am going on a long two week trip in June. I am pretty worried about the range of fuel. Is anyone hauling gas with them or put a bigger tank on it for long trips?
