Why not put the 5K down on a Harley you really want? Will you buy this with the intention of getting a bigger/tourer later? Sportster are great bike's, I had one I bought new for five years and loved it. But I ended up getting a Heritage for the long haul riding two up. Just some thoughts to consider.

I thought the thing when I bought mine, I hadn't owned a bike in 8 years. A few upgrades, namely a stage 1, shocks/springs and seat, and you might be surprised. I've had my '06 1200 Custom for 3 years now and have zero interest in Dyna or any other model.

It's loud as shiat!
I'm going to have the Harley Dealership look over it to make sure everything is ok. This is my first Harley so I'm a newb, but when it's cold, it's awful grumpy. It takes a minute or two to settle down or otherwise it'll stall fairly easily. Once it gets warmed up it's fine.
