I think any time you mess with back pressure you have to re-adjust carbs or re-map FI. That's why they run like crap when the flap is closed. They were probably set up for the flap being opened.

Pity...they saw the sales rising and decided to raise the price. Best pipe on the dyno, but if they go too far the sales will dip...not the best looking 2-1 exhaust out there if you know what I mean.

rickss69, for sure they aren't the best looking pipes out there, but performance wise they rank pretty high.

Nothing has beat them on Hammer's dyno to date...still ugly lol. Finally got around to putting them on the '07 and was surprised how quiet they are vs the ShortShots they replaced. With the butterfly fully opened you can take this one anywhere...only barks when the throttle is rapped and even then it is quieter than the D&D Bobcat.

After the you tube video from rickss69 at the end of this thread, there will be some other videos come up...the one with a 883 nightster shows the metal strap and wingnut conversion.

I run one on my 1200C and have been playing with the flapper recently. The bike runs much better with it fully open and pretty much like total crap with it closed. There is a long thread on XLForum with dyno tests showing how horrible the pipe does with the flapper closed.
I imagine it would be fine as a short use solution to get out of parking garages or whatever. I've read where a couple guys have used generic choke cables to make the flapper adjustable on the fly.
One thing I've struggled with is that the closer exit of the pipe makes it drone BAD inside my full-face helmet. Worse than the Samson straight pipes I had on previously. Enough that I ordered a Bell 500 to try out since it is not loud at all with my 1/2 helmet.
The pipe is all stainless steel, so it will turn gold after running for a bit. Here is mine after a month.
