Default Complete noob

Spent the last two weeks going through the safety class and getting the "M" stamped on my license.

With that out of the way I went down and sat on the sportsters. The Forty Eight felt the best. Test rode this morning and will be picking it up next week. Was surprised how much torque it had, scooted me back in the seat going into second.

Will be bone stock for a while. After I get a little more confidence my wife will be riding passenger.

Any advice specific to the Forty Eight? I should point out this is the first time on two wheels anything for me.

Thanks

ya don't put a passenger on it unless you have a sissy bar setup, otherwise your asking for trouble especially if your both noobs.

10-4. I Should have specified that.

It doesn't have a passenger seat or pegs. Will add the passenger stuff when Im ready to put her on. In fact, she wants to take the safety course first. Dont know if she wants her own bike though. May be a long while if she decides to ride.

Don't buy from dealer, go to Craig's. 48 is a brawler, don't change it and ruin it like many have

Congratz on getting your license. I'd suggest alot of solo time getting familiar with the bike prior to going 2 up. It changes things more than you might think. If your dropping 10k on your first bike I'm guessing your finances can easily support it. But lo-rider is DNO, used bikes are plentiful with low mileage. Most come with an exhaust upgrade as well, you're going to want that.

Either way welcome and ride safe. Post PICTURES of the scoot when you get it.

good when she gets her endorsement let her take your bike for a spin or two every once in a while, guarantee you will be adding another sportster to the household, and you can buy her a used one for cheap and fix it up the way she wants it.

I plan solo for at least a month, probably more before going 2 up.

The exhaust is the only thing I plan on changing. If I understand correctly, it won't have to be tuned with slip on's?

As far as the bike goes, yea I'm getting a new one. Stock everything with the red tank. Will be picking it up in 7 to 10 business days if ya know what I mean.

Since you consider yourself a "complete noob" and it's your "...first time on two wheels anything for me" I would venture to guess that I'm not the only one here who would suggest that you spend alot more than a month or two riding solo before going 2up. I've seen some here that have suggested that a new rider should at the minimum clock up 5000 solo miles before doing so. Why? 'Cause that '48 ain't like ridin' no bicycle with a friend on the back! Perhaps others will chime in here. Either way, please ride safe and enjoy your new bike!

Great choice, my 48 wasn't my first bike but it was my first cruiser of any sort. I absolutely love it and I assure you you'll change more than the pipes. Enjoy!
