removing belt gaurd?

5 years with both of mine off and no problem, maybe just lucky, but there's no way it's going back on.

I was just referring to the lower guard. There is no way I'm running without my top guard with that damn PJ1 Black. That stuff is a mess.

Both of mine are gone, no problems yet.. the bottom one looks terrible with pipes short enough to see it.

Well with the top off a passenger could get their ankle scuffed up, the lower cover has adjustment markers on it. If you're really looking for a cool look take the belt hubs off,put sprockets on and put a 530 o-ring chain on.

Been running for almost ten years without either belt guards without one issue, and that's been with riding on the occassional gravel road too. The OL would have to have something like 10" bell bottom pants on for it to get caught in the belt.
