I've seen the raised letters colored in with red and it looked like it came from the manufacturer like it, and stayed on for a long time. Although not sure about how white looks or how many pens you would need to do 4 solids stripes or how big. Only thing I can think of

if you do it clean them very well i mean verrrrrrrrrrry well -
scuff them up with scotchbright
clean and degrease
let dry for at least a day
tape off the rim an outer edge
roll on very thin coat of the roof sealer , let dry, repeat
and use Elastomeric roofing paint that u get at home depot
Elastomeric is a flexible polymer that is used in roofing paint to aid in the expansion and contraction of the building. I is obviously very resilient, adheres to rubber very well, and another of the benefits is it's ability to stretch to 600% it's original state. I used the product by Baer, available at The Home Depot:
