I have the HD non detachable. I also bought a Sundowner seat as I thought my wife would be more comfortable on it with the backrest. The stock HD backrest on my 09 Sporty is to narrow to allow the wider Sundowner seat to be used with it. About the only thing I can do is to send the seat of to have it shaved down to fit in between the backrest bars. Just some info if you might be considering another seat in the future.

My wife rode for a while without a sissy bar and she had to have a death grip on me the intire time. It made riding uncomfortable for her and me, not to mention I'm a bit heavy on the throttle at times which is impossible without one. After I picked up my HD detachable, it was like riding a different bike, I will never ride two up again without one thats for certain.

I bought my Iron last year with the stock seat, and girls kept asking to go for a ride, and I wanted a different seat anyways. So I bought a mustang 2 up seat, then girls asked where the sissy bar was and they didn't want to ride without on. So yesterday I installed a short bar. We'll shall see how it goes this summer!

I ride 2 up on my Nightster using a suction cup pillion pad and no sissy bar. I guess that's why I can't hold on to any girlfriends for long

....but I ride 2up so rarely and love the look of the solo seat. I want something that's easy to attach and detach and having a sissy bar is more hassle.

I just ride easy, that's all.

Sure you can....it's safe
Have your girl wrap her arms around your waist.

I would say you need Passenger Pegs.

Rode double many years without sissy bars.

+1 on above suction pillion comment...for emergency (like to a Motel from a bar) use only.

I ride my wife on the back with a sissy bar as well. It just makes riding 2 up more enjoyable. She can relax and look around and not have to worry about always having a death grip on me.

I put a Sundowner and the 1 piece HD quick detach on my Nightster. My wife would spend all day back there. We use to ride 2 up on my Ninja without a bar obviously, the down hill seating of a sport bike makes it a hole different experience.

Me and my Exwife ues to do it all the time, sometimes even with a lick and stick seat. A few times we went out all day, but she was a very good passenger and we did stop about every hour or so, but that was more me than her.
