Default shinko tyre/wheel conversion

Hey Guys

i've got some nice shinko ww tyres for my 2012 iron, front 130 (wide glide kit in on route) and a rear 170.

now i also want to swap the mag wheels out for some nice spoke wheels.

i've read some threads on this forum about this swap on forty eights....they used stock rear wheels, if i'm not mistaken they are 3" wide...correct...?

will a stock rear forty eight spoke wheel fit my 2012 iron...? if so...do you have a good source where to buy this wheel...?

thanks in advance

Chris, a 170 tyre is way too wide for a 3" wheel, 150 is the normal max width for that size of rim.

What about the guy saying the tire will expand on the highway and burn the paint off the fender?

Your confusion is understandable. I can't find any useful technical data about Shinko tyres, such as recommended rim width, but the widest usually recommended for a 3" rim is 150. I have a 160 on my Glide, but on a 4.5" rim.

It's down to you if you install a 170mm tyre on a 3" rim, but I for one don't think it is wise. If you have wire spoked wheels you could have your rear rim replaced by a wider and more suitable one.

Than there must be a difference between us and European 48's because I just lookt at the rear wheel from my neighbors 48 , it says 16x3.00 DOT
