I picked up a 2006 Carbureted XL1200L as a second bike back in late January and already did a make-over on it. This bike is a total blast and I come to learn this past weekend, that you can go anywhere on it. I rode over 10 hours and put over 700 miles on it and still wanted more. You get a hell of a lot of Bang for your Buck with a Sportster. Quite the bargain at today's prices!

I thought I'd hop on mine from time to time as well. You'll be surprised at how much more time you'll really spend on it.

That might be the difference. My 06 is incredibly smooth when cruising between 70 & 90 mph. You see a perfect reflection in the mirror with no vibes. In fact it stays smooth thru 115mph, maybe smooth after as well, but that's as high as I've gone so far.

Thanks a lot. So I'm going to stick with an 04 or newer if it's a 07 that's fine with me, my bike is fuel injected and I like it, if it starts running a little rough just pull the tank off clean the throttle bodies and go. As I type this I'm taking a break from cleaning the carb on my daughters Virago, as much as I like tinkering with my bike I don't miss taking carbs apart and putting them back together lol.
