Default Big electrical issue?

The problem is with my 2003 Sportster.

My speedometer stops working and my auto cancel stops working for my turn signals at the same time. Now my battery has been draining over night. Strange thing is that the battery does not always drain. It seems that the battery drain and speedometer/turn signal issue happen together.

Do these all apply to the ignition switch? I have been thinking that the switch may be going bad inside of it, but I just don't want to throw money at the bike to not fix it. The swich is the only thing that I can think of that changes on the bike by me turning it on and off.

Any help here is welcome. Thnaks.

For starters, your speedo/turn signal issue is likely a bad or dirty speed sensor. It's behind the front drive belt pulley.

i recently had a problem with my speedo and turn signals not working.
the problem turned out to be a fuse.
might be worth a quick check

I found the sensor. I removed it and wiped it off. It had a black coating on it like oil. I reinstalled it and will see if it works in the AM.

If it does not work would you know where to get a replacement for a fair price?

I am going to give the fuses a go over too.

If all the wiring and connections for the sensor look good and you still have the speedo/turn signal problem, I would replace the sensor.

All else looks good. I'll just have to find a sensor now to see if it fixes it.

If I jack the bike up can I spin the wheel in gear and test the sensor. Just want to be 100% that it is the sensor.

Well shoot. Now I am dealing with a battery not wanting to charge while riding. Bike started when I left work, but I had to stop for gas. I hit the start button and clicking was all I heard. Push started it and rode it home.
