Rocker Box Problem - 1200R
A week ago I noticed some oil on my left pant leg. After inspecting the bike, I found some oil on the end of the oil filter and traced it up to the front left side of the Rocker Box seal. I took it in to the dealer and they reportedly had to replace the gasket twice before someone noticed that powder coating was causing the Box not to seat properly.
First off, I've had the bike since mid December and have put 600+ mileson it and the leak juststarted last week. Has anyone else had this problem with the Roadsteror am I just paranoid and think they aren't giving me the entire truth?

I had the exact same leak on my '06 1200C, but only enough to get a thin layer of oil on the top cooling fin. It was repaired at the dealer and I never had another problem with it. One thing I noticed about the leak is that it was intermitant. I had wiped it off a couple times and it wouldn't leak for a while and then it would appear again. I finally realized that it only leaked when I road it for a short period of time and then shut it off. I guess it had something to do with heat expansion.

I wouldnt sweat it I have almost 20,000 miles on my o4 rubber duck and dont have any leaks at all , but I do make a habit of checking all the bolts when I change the oil , its just some thing I have always done when servicing a bike no matter what manufacture it is.

A few variables here. How much and what kind of oil are you using. How hard are you riding it. How long are you riding it. What is the ambient temp.A common denominator for us all with bikes is oil leaks. Remember, unlike a cage, our engines are exposed to us all the time. If we looked under the hood everytime that we got in our cars, we would probably see a little oil exposure as well. If you're tightening up bolts for general maintainence, be sure to use the right torq. on them when doing so. You could end up with more than you bargained for.
