I have searched high and low, google and the service manual, and I still have no answer. My 2012 48 has a light that looks like a #6, all the way on the left. Is it for other bikes that have six gears? I can't believe I didn't get the answer in the very large service manual I bought! Thanks guys!!!!!!

 

Yeah its for the optional 6th gear.........you didnt get that? Its only like a $100 upgrade.

A troll job by Harley. I've always assumed the speedo gets used on other big twin models....and to **** you off of course.

 

Same speedo combo on the Dynas or was..not sure if it still is. But yeah...nice way to **** every one off, heaven forbid a Sporty with a 6 speed.

 

Common part to reduce costs. You have no 6th gear, cruise control, or ABS even if the little speedo has a slot for it.

yeah they were used on 6 speed Dyna's but on a sporty if that light ever does come on it is sure sign you have an electical problem

 

What it really boils down to is that the sportsters have a dyna speedo. Haven forbid they made one to indicated 5th gear for us sportster people.

 

I swung by the dealer today to get some fork oil, curiosity got to me so I checked out the speedos, looks like all sporty's have em now.
