Default Check Engine/Battery light

I have an 07 883 Sporty.

My check engine and battery light comes on on my speedo.

I run a 20/50w oil, an 85w trans fluid (all new fluids)

I installed a new battery, checked all the Hot and Ground wires to and from the battery for tightness.

Cleaned my fuse box with contact cleaner and my fuses as well after wire brushing them.

Heres the trick..... I ride in the cool morning (50°+/-), 75mph on the freeway..... No Warning Lights.

I ride home..... the Warning Lights come on within 5min. And its only 75° outside.

My research has told me it could be the regulator. I dont have a volt meter but would think the warning lights would be on more consistently if this was in fact the case.

Thank you in advanve for any ideas or suggestions for they would be greatly appreciated.

First you need to get a voltage meter or borrow one. With out that you are just shooting in the dark. Once you have that check what voltage you have in the morning and in the evening. When mine had charging problems it was the regulator. Do you run your lights when you are on your way home. It could be over charging that was what mine was doing because the regulator was not doing its job.

My '08 Street Glide did that. Finally took it in and had it checked. Voltage regulator.

+1 - Your battery is not charging. It's most likely a bad stator, regulator, or both.

Voltage meter and check the regulator. If thats not it then it's off to a mechanic.

I can handle a regulator change but the stator, someone outside of my garage and skill level will get to tackle that.

The only lights I have on it is the one headlight, front and rear running lights and brakes when applied.

Thanks guys for the response, I appreciate it greatly.

Check the speedo for DTC's. There's a how to in the DIY Sticky up top.
