Makeover Complete = My Sporty Bagger
I just picked up this bike in late January, and I really intended to leave it alone. It was exactly what I was looking for, except for the handlebars which I swapped out the following day.
Fortunately I was able to log just over 400 miles between late January thru the middle of February when it wasn't snowing. But when the snow falls and I can't ride, I'd hang out here reading more about the Sporty's.
By mid February I had gained a lot of inspiration and ideas from a lot of you and your bikes. I started seeing how some of the bits and piece's could improve my bike and still fit my needs, while not braking the bank. So up on the lift it went for some disassembly.
I wanted to black out some front end parts and re-paint my tins. Fortunately I can do the paint myself and had most of the materials leftover from last winters repaint of my Evo. All I needed was some House of Kolor Blue & Gold flakes.
The paint was fully cured by Monday of this week so I was able to start putting it back together. I was able to finish it by lunch time today and take it to lunch for a test cruise. Everything checked out perfect and I've been cruising locally all afternoon.
I really liked this ride a lot prior to the makeover, but now it's dialed in perfectly for my needs and I'm very satisfied with the outcome. Many thanks to all of you for your advice and inspirations.
The last addition was the hard-mounted saddle bags, which are a must for this bike. Bobby at Viking Bags was a lot of help. His customer service was outstanding and he was eager to apply discount that I wasn't even aware of. I could be happier with the quality of the bags and the price was great!
Here's the completed project, thanks for looking.

Kinda the same place. Picked this up 2 weeks ago to do a cafe bike. I'm diggin' it as is. Picked up some Street Glide air shocks, and ordered a Mustang Vintage Solo seat today. Add PS fork springs and oil, and I think I'm done. Gotta a gig in Vegas next month. Backline gear, I don't have to carry drums. Wife's working, can't go. Sounds like a road trip to me.....
