Default Progressive Shocks - best bang for the buck

Looking to upgrade my stock 05 Roadster shocks and was a little blown away by the price of shocks as I've never replaced shocks before.........

I don't mind spending +/- $640 for the Progressive 444 series if they're worth it but is there a better value to performance option?

I hope asking about shocks isn't like asking about synthetic vs. dino...........

I ended up getting the 12" Progressive 412 for $100. Definitely a good deal.

RLJ, I installed Progressive 13.5" 440 standards on my 2007 1200C about 16,000 miles ago and have never looked back. The 444s are probably even better but I don't see how. My thinking was that if the 1200R can have 13.5" shocks why not my 1200C. I like em. At $520.00 and free shipping I got exactly what I wanted, no 2nd guessing and no regrets. A lot of people here don't understand that for some reason.

Fortunately there are not so many options on shocks! If your budget extends that far, HDF sponsor Motorcycle Metal custom builds Ohlins and JRI and offers members a discount on the website prices. You can buy shocks in a box off the shelf, or have them built so the damping and springs are matched to YOU! And they also give a supreme ride. Give Howard there a call.

some folks put touring air shocks on there sportsters with good results.. and they can be found for cheap on the 'bay...from what I understand you don't even need to put air in them, just use them as they are...

Good review......sounds like the 440/444s are worth it. Thanks.
