Default Need Help - Damage thread

Ok guys, need advice here. I was doing the 15K maintenance, everything went perfect until the last part. I was mounting the drive belt inspection cover. I setup my torque wrench, install the first screw no problem, but apparently in dint lock the setting and it move, when i when to install the second I damage the thread on the Primary Cover. I was able to mount the belt inspection cover, no leaks so far, but I can not tie that screw. So my question is, can I re-thread that hole or I need to buy a new cover. The new Cover is around $230.

Any Advice?

First, using a torque wrench on that piece is something that never crossed my mind. I use torque wrench only on cylinder head and on a few other important nuts.
Second, if it not leaking leave it alone.

I agree with the post above. Only thing I'll suggest is to use Loc Tite on the screw or use Teflon tape on the screw threads.

Also, there's no need to use a torque wrench on the inspection cover screws.

If worst comes to worst you could use a helicoil.

All you need is a cordless drill to install a helicoil.
You could just drill the hole in the cover larger (still need a drill) and tap it & use a larger bolt but it won't match the others. The advantage to the helicoil is that you reuse the original bolt so everything matches. Other than the drilling everything is done by hand.
