Default Recommend a new set of bars for my sporty

I need new bars, mine were all scratched up in a spill last summer. I am thinking mini-ape hangers. But is that the right type of bar for a sporty? I know, ride what you like and all that, but seriously, help me pick out my new bars. What do you have that's not stock and do you like them?

I just put wide glide mini-apes on my 06 1200C a couple weeks ago (winter projects you know). Its all in what feels comfortable and looks good for you. I like retro bobber style bike and wanted a more comfortable hand position so those factors are what affected my choice in bars. To change to mini-apes on a custom it's a little more costly since you have get longer cables and risers, clamp, and new speedo mount (I don't like apes on the tall pullback riser), new grips too. I probably have about $200 in my bar change out and I still need to order new throttle/idel cables. The limited amount of riding I've done with them since its freaking cold now and miserable I would say they are very comfortable but the looks are not for everyone. I think sportys look cool with apes or lower flat track bars.

Click the attachment to see my bars with the new risers, cables, grips and speedo location.
Just added a side shot too.

Matt, your ape looks sweet. It looks just right with low risers, no offense but I can't stand of mini ape on tall risers, spending the extra $$$ is worth it.

I'm looking to do the same thing, and I will definately get rid of the riser. What is the dimensions on the wide glide mini apes? Maybe we can get in touch so I can find out the parts that you used to complete your project. Thanks for your help!! Your bike looks great!

Thanks for the comments guys. Sure if any of you want to know part #s, price and where I got everything just email me and I'll put together a list. The bars incidentally were Krome Werks that I ordered from http://www.discountcycleparts.comvia the Custom Chrome Catalog, cost $38.22. The bar specs. are attached. There are some other shots which show the new bars in my gallery.

wide glide mini-apes. (thanks HeatherC and HDWG). with the tall pullback riser. i had the tall pullback riser all ready and i thought buying new risers were a waste of money. (no offense 128 or capttawes). i've got $0 in my bar swap. thanks to HD for providing enough cables for them, thanks to ****** for the lesson in solder and a soldering gun, and thanks to HeatherC and HDWG for the bars.

later,

wanna
