Default Bike wash

There is a car wash place near me that has bays to wash your motorcycle. Drive it in and raise it up on a lift. There's a sign on the wall that says to wait till the engine is cool before starting. My question is, at what point is the engine cool?
Or can you do it before it is cool to the touch? I would think it's not much different than riding in the rain or hitting a puddle.

It's not a good idea to spray the engine when it is hot like that. The sudden cooling can really mess stuff up. In industry, that is referred to as quenching.

Id say let the bike sit 15 min or so to cool off. Stretch your legs, have a soda or coffee or checkout the chicks there washing their cars while the bike cools down. .

Mate.....spraying a bike with a pressure wash isn't always a good thing, be careful!

I go to one of those about a half mile from me. Engine doesn't get that hot. Been doing it for years with 4 different bikes.

It has a high pressure wash, low pressure, suds, spot free rinse and blower to dry off. Free soda and coffee to boot.

Yeah, if there was one near me, I'd def use it. lol, maybe my bike would be clean now and then.

Just be careful w/ high pressure, especially near wheel bearing and any Electrics.

Heck, it's only about 13 hours east for you. And I bet your bike would be dry by the time your get back home.
