It is currently 36 here. Should I jump on it and hold the throttle open giving it just enough gas to warm up?

When I test drove it, it was roughly 40 degrees and it started up just fine.

36 is cold enough for it to stall when cold.It should idle on its own after starting and stalling a couple of times.A set of xied's (fuel enricher) or a tuner will solve this problem.Harley has the bikes way too lean in the stock form.

Thanks! I'll go back out after I finish eating and try it again. This time I'll sit on it and let it idle a little higher for a minute or two. Then see if it stalls.

It stalled when giving it gas too. I bet the lines have gummed up since it's old gas.

your just gonna drain that battery again with a combination of starting a lot without running and the cold temps it will die quick. if you are not really mechanically inclined it might be time to seek professional help. to continue to try and run it with old gas isn't gonna improve the way it runs.

Thanks to Brion calling, I got everything situated! Had it running for 10-15 minutes idling without any problems. Instead of taking it to Harley, I'm going to use that money towards a tuner and get rid of the running lean problem!
