Will do Brion. There's lots of stuff I want to buy now! I have to find a way to rig my shed with power and heat so I can work inside during the elements.
I get the battery back from Autozone tomorrow and I used the 20 dollar gift card I got from the riders edge course to buy my manual (19.95 after military discount).
Appleton also suggested in doing the 5000 mile maintenance at 3900 because I bought it used and it sat most of last year. They offered standard at 250 and synthetic at 270 (after discount). Seems pricey but may be well worth it if they spot something bad.

I am in need of some help... I took the battery out and got it charged. I do not have a tender yet.
I have tried installing it back in and I CANNOT get it in. The negative terminal keeps hitting the battery box in the back. I have tried all sorts of combinations to try and get it to fit... But it just WILL not go. Can anyone please give me some advice?
With the negative wire not attached, the battery fits perfectly and I am able to put the holder back in place. I am very peeved and upset right now and had to stop.

When you attach the negative cable run the cable straight down so it does not contact the back of the battery box before the battery does.I was surprised you got the battery out (having not owned a Sportster before),tough bike to change a battery on.

You NEED a manual!!! You can down load them on-line too.
When I bought my sportie, used at the stealership, they said they'd get one for me, that took two months. By that time, I had fouind one on-line, and just printed it out.
I can't remember where I got it, however.
Read your manual. Learn your manual. Love your manual.
Then you can go out and by more manuals to read and learn from!
Also, youtube is your friend! just about any thing you want to do, search it on youtube and you can watch someone walk you through it. Awesome!
