Turn signal, brake light, running light prob

Yeah bulbs are ok, I hooked up the one on the left turn to the right side and it worked on the right when I hit the left signal. There was a scraggley wire going from the right to a nut that I took loose at one point----Im guessing it was the ground I guess? After that moved my situation worsened as far as what was working. At this point nothing is hooked up Im going at it hard tonight when I get home. Ive got a light pen and a couple aligator clips with wire between so I can do some quick tests and adjustments.

Your manual look anything like this?

I just swapped my factory rear lamp for an aftermarket one from EBay. Had to do pretty much the same thing you're in the middle of. Maybe I can help.

nc the diagram in the manual that I have is diffrent------I think that schematic helped though in the manual it made it seem as the orange wire was not used on domestic bikes, Where did you splice that orange wire to, My brake light has only two wires hanging does that splice the orange in with the red/yellow? I wish I was at home where I could compare your notes to the bike. I drew out what your diagram had so I can reference it-----That was in your harley manual or another manual? It looks way diffrent from what I saw is all but its clicking in my head better than what I saw, Thanks bro

It's one I found online, actually. -I don't have a manual-
But it matched up to my colors on my '02. My aftermarket light had 3 wires but I only used 2 of them. One was the running light and the other was the stop lamp. The third was a ground, but my light is metal and grounds to the fender. Didn't hook up the ground wire. I was actually able to use my plug in block too, just relocated it to under the seat. Will find a pic of the "block" and show ya.

Thanks for your help nc-----went home last night, got a test light, some alligator clip wires and your diagram figured it out in 20 minutes. Red would be the lead Im pretty sure. It ended up fairly easy once I got into it. Had never used a test light before on anything and it was easy to help figure things out. Ive done more firsts in the 6-7 months Ive owned this bike, it usually works out taking my time and getting my head straight as necessary in the process. Sometimes a 5 minute breatherreally helps, LOL
Here is what I figured out(in case anyone else has a similar situation)
Orange and blue merge from harness to black wire on----- tail light for brakes
Red/yellow wire to all red wire on----- taillight
Violet to violet and black to black on ----left turn signal
Brown ire to violet wire on right side black wire from light to ground --- right turn
Thanks again nc for that diagram as it helped me alot more than my service manual, the hard thing about a modded bike is figuring what the last dude did and trying to figure how its diffrent from the manual. Being able to ask a ???? from other guys here helps tremendously. Woo---Hoo on to changing throttle/idle cables next
