Have an 09 nightster, changed the seat, installed backrest, luggage rack, windshield and saddle bags and find it very comfortable on road trips or around town. Course I also did away with shocks and put on a set of 11" struts.1200custom as a touring bike-026.jpg

The Sportster is a very adaptable bike and there are plenty of threads in here about fitting luggage, comfy seats, windshields, all the things that can make life on the open road more comfortable. We have mini-dresser style versions, through to the minimalist throw-over gotta-go-now style - browse and choose one. Like any Harley it can become a lifelong project!

I wish H-D would've not used "1200C" for 3 very different bikes.
I suggest they be called:
1200C1, 2003 & older, small tank, skinny front tire, rigid motor.
1200C2, '04-'10, large tank, skinny front tire, rubber mount motor.
1200C3, '11 & newer, large tank, fat front tire, rubber mount motor.

Add dual front disc brakes & bags to a C3, and it would be great for touring.

And add windshield, bags and heated gear outlet.

I just added a RAM mount for my GPS and zip tied my EZ Pass to the back of it. Now I'm pretty much ready for any ride.
