today I looked at a StreetGlide and the Salesperson asked me what I currently rode. I told this person I rode a Sportster. "oh so your ready to move Up". Did you not hear I rode a Harley. I am not moving up I am moving sideways. The salesperson started backing up and tried to correct there statement, but I interrupted and told the person that they must think that Harley makes a substandard bike. "No that is not it". In owning a Harley you already own one of the best motorcycles in the world whether it be an 883 to an ultraclassic. The metric builders would love to have as strong of following and pride as we do in our rides. I bought the streetglide from another salesperson, so when you see me again do not think that I have abandoned my sportster beginning just praise me that I am still a harley owner. I would ride with any of you with just as much pride and a smile of my face whether you owned any harley model.

Two wheels is two wheels, some of them just have more costly un-necessities!

 

I don't see why Sportster riders get their panties in a wad when the term "moving up" is used. You are "moving up" in a vehicle sense when you go to a Big Twin. You are getting a more expensive bike up the dollar ladder, if nothing else. It's just like any other trade up in a vehicle, like going from a Neon to a Charger.

I certainly consider that when I bought my Road King to replace my Sporty as my regular ride I moved up.

buy a bike from a HD stealer,they just mark bikes up to high.
i walked into a local HD shop had $8000.00 in my pocket good
credit and left with a frown on my face,could not even get a drink
of water there,or maybe a free mint,or piece of candy,we were
moved aside like trash,that done me in, so i went and bought a one owner bike from a friend,

I understand where you're coming from thou. I recently had a conversation with a Harley salesman who saw me ride into the parking lot of the dealership. When I came inside and was kicking some tires he asked if I was ready to "move up". I laughed and said: No, I did that when I sold my Heritage Classic and bought the 1200 C. It gor a laugh.

 

I've been debating and debating on whether or not to get a FatBoy... Finally decided the other day to keep the Sportster... A Harley is a Harley and a matter of _______(fill in the blank)....

So anyway... took 3 grand out of the bank and went and bought this here new computer last night...

Doesn't sound as good as my Sportster... but it's got some boogey lights in the side and in front... lol
