Default Vertical plate mount in California?

I am looking for a simple vertical plate mount for my 13 street bob but am wondering if anyone has had major issues with the California cops with them?

Also any pics of some would be great, I just want a nice sturdy one without a stoplight attached that won't kill the wallet.

Thanks for any help!

Well, I dont know about the laws in California, but you can go to this LINK and see what we have to offer as far as licenses plate relocations, we offer them in vertical, horizontal, with and without the tail light. Here is a pic of a vertical without a tail light.

Vertical plates are not legal in CA, I have a few friends that run them, police basically leave them alone..

My thoughts, I try really hard not to give the police a reason to pull me over, I wouldn't run a vertical plate here.. I don't care for the looks of the verticals anyway..

I don't think you will be pulled over just for running a vertical plate but it might be used as an excuse for the initial stop if they find something else.

Yeah, I was pretty sure that they were illegal, just curious how strict they were on the issue. I got rid of my R1 and got the Harley with the intention of not giving cops any reason to pull me over, I just wanna cruise!!!

I guess I'll order one and keep the stocker in case I get a fix-it-ticket...

Thanks for the quick responses!

Ya not legal!

Reason: the "computer" camera's the ones that read your plate automatically... Can't read plates that are vert...

I would not give them an excuse to pull you over I know in sac.. They will ticket you!!! I try and avoid getting pulled over

Btw that is a vc violation it is Probable cause to pull you over!

its hit or miss. although illegal I doubt a cop will pull you over for just that. If he already has you over then me most likely will add it to the ticket

The sideways plates pictured are still super visible. Most people wouldn't get bothered. My plate (stock flip mount) is flipped in hiding mode since I bought my bike and never been questioned about it.

Cops are usually more worried about modded cars then bikes.
