I was literally just told this by a buddy of mine, "It's because both wires are power one for running and one for brake. You need to clear some powder off the mounting points for the light and bracket to get a good ground. Do that and it will work just fine for you"

You think that would work?

It either has a brake light and running lights or it doesn't.

If you are not sure, then run a wire from the stud coming out the back of the light that is used to hold it to the frame to a ground on a battery.

Then take one of the other wires and run it to the + on the battery, then try the other wire.

Then you will know if you have running lights and brake lights or not.

If you do, then follow the instructions I posted a bit ago, running a wire from the stud on the back of the light to somewhere on the bike that you know is ground.

What coluor are the wires. PERHAPS you dont run a earth wire maybe the unit earths itself on you shocks and hence no earth wire needed.

If it has one its a running light only or a brake light only. If it has two its both........even if it only has two wires, both could be power with the case of the light as ground.

My light had the same two wires, one was for the brake and one was for the running light, your probably thinking the black is ground and the green is power. It would illuminate that way but not very bright. Take the lens off and look at the bulb and see if it has two contacts, if it does it grounds through the mount, I had to sand the powder coating off of mine so the axle nut made contact to be able to ground.
If the bulb has two contacts try touching the wires one at a time to the positive battery post and the brighter on is brake, dimmer one is running...I think the black wire on mine was the brake. as far as how to wire it up after you figure it out read this post

I just installed an aftermarket light on my new rear fender. The housing acts as the ground, the two wires are power circuits. As others have said, wire it in that fashion and you'll be fine.
