I just changed my stock filter element to a K&N element. When I contacted the V&H factory about it (I'm also running a FuelPak) they said that was just fine. I think I paid 50 bucks or so for it on EBay.

Ihave the Vance&Hines straightshots.I used the Sceamin Eagle backing plate and the K&N filter.I guess Harley doesn't use the K&N brand filter element anymore for there Screamin Eagle setup. It works for my bike just fine.I have 2003 883r.

NRHS Hurricane Flow - K&N element
An independant dyno report I read awhile back showed the Hurricane Flow produced about 2.5 more HP over the SE on a 1200.

What independant dyno report did you see?

The only one I know that compared the SE with the hurricanflow was from NRHS who sells it. Not exactly independant.

Sorry, but it was like 2 years ago and I don't recall where I found the report. I did read the data form NRHS and did find data on an internet search that backed it up which is why I chose it. NRHS is very well known for their performance products. Frankly I don't understand why some people looking for performance add-on's for their bikes think SE products are the answer because it's stamped with HD's blessing and of course their profit margin.
