Suction Cup mount on tank

Suction Cup mount on tank
I have a Garmin Zumo 220 that is custom mounted to my Versys which I use quite a bit on the road.
Instead of buying another Garmin I mounted the suction cup mount to the Sporty tank and it seems fairly secure, anyone use a suction cup mount on the tank? Just curious if the vibration swill eventually knock it loose. I may try and tether it just in case. I know on my Wrangler the suction cup has been on the windshield without any problems.
I don't want to mount it the bars as I'll seldom need a GPS for the Sporty however there will be times I'd like to throw something on quick and go.

Man, I wouldn't trust it. I don't know how many times in my car the Garmin has popped off the windshield and went wangin across the dashboard. Almost out the window a few times.
I used to have a Yamaha R6, I know it's ghetto but I actually used Velcro on the Garmin to hold it onto the tach, it worked great.
I just honestly wouldn't trust the suction cup especially with the vibes of a Harley.
If you use it, a tether would be a good idea as suggested above.
Good luck!

Yeah, gotta agree with others here... I won't do suction cups on my bike, period. Not fond of velcro either - for one it looks "ghetto" (as someone else pointed out) but the glue on the back in the heat will melt (or cold makes it brittle) with the same result (GPS on road).
You really get your money's worth in this department. The mount is key. For Nuvi there's a lot of options - bar mount, mount to Harley switch housing, there's even a new windshield mount... these are made in USA too.

If a suction mount comes unstuck in a car the gps will stay in the car and probably have a soft landing. You will still have a working gps and no harm will be done. On a bike it will likely self destruct on the road and if you use a tether smash into the tank. There are plenty of mounts available, I got mine from eglidegoodies.
