Here's my story. I purchased my '07 Sporty this past April. it came with the V&H pipes, Sundowner seat, QD windshield, QD side plates/sissybar and Boss Bags saddlebags.

The good for me that it was almost everything I wanted on the bike. Also, I didn't pay a premium for the added accessories.

The bad, I've added a ton of stuff to the bike since. I don't expect to get much, if any, of my money back that I've spent in accessories. It's part of the deal. I can, however, return the bike to stock if I want. I have all the stock parts. Keeping the accessories on to sell can be a double edged sword. If you are selling it for a similar price than someone selling a stone stock bike does, can make it more attractive to sell if the accessories are ones that many buyers might want or like. Like a Mustang seat. Or you can return the bike to as stock as possible and sell it that way. Then sell the accessories separately. You'll recoup some of the money spent on the bolt on stuff.

Once you do engine or drive train mods, you really can't bring it back to stock. Which can make it more difficult to sell.

Notice that there is a difference between an accessory and a mod.

A stock bike is better for resale then a heavy mod bike due to fact that the new buyer doesn't know if the owner had the done the mod's himself or took the bike to a mechanic and had the work done by a pro. Just my take on it.

i havent been deep in the bike game but i have been deep in cars for a while. i always save the oem parts and when i go to sell i revert everything back to stock and sell the mods on forums and craigslist. you end up getting more that way
