Default Gas mileage question

So i was reading a few posts recently where people are reporting 100+ miles to the tank. Im not sure what size tanks/ models they have but am i doing somethign wrong that im only getting 70-80 miles to mine? I have an 09 Nightster which i believe has 2.3 gal tank and is a 1200. Any insight?

Stock Nightster tank is 3.3 gallon.Do you mean 70 to 80 miles before the low fuel light is coming on?

Damn where did they report getting 100mpg? What are you doin to get 70mpg? **** my sporty gets right at 50mpg and I ride it easy.

Sure you are not on one of those 50cc scooters?

Crap I can not read.... lololol

Oh **** miss-read that,,, to a tank... 3.3x5= 150 miles to a tank.

Should have a .5 or 1 reserve. If you figure 50mpg and after you switch to reserve figure another 50 miles.

I usually get 100 miles out of a tank, however I've pushed it to 120 once and that was kind of scary.

I'm actually scratching my head as to why my low gas light comes on at 60 miles from last fill up.

you need to ask dealer about that. there is 2 thing in your tank that they can check, don't remember what. after i got mine i complained i think they change out fuel pump. dealer changed hands new dealer told me to bring it in about out of gas and they could do something to tell which was wrong. i haven't took it back.
But, around town mine is 42-45mpg on a trip around 47-48. have got 52. town low light comes on around 90-100miles & i still got over a gal.
hiway around 132 & still got over a gal left.

I do tend to ride hard some of the time. . But it still doesn't make sense that only 70 mules to the tank. This morning 65 miles and light came on. I do need a tuner soon as I had a stage 1 tune but pulled bffles added dk torque inserts and switched to heavy breather instead of regular stage 1 air cleaner. I hope that might be a contributing factor
