Default quick removal of rear suspension?

So I realize I need to remove the suspension on my sportster for a few minutes so I can put the bolts in for my saddle bags. I haven't mess with mechanial stuff too much but I was wondering do I need any additional tools to remove it other then a wrench and a torque wrench? This may sound dumb but I'm afraid once I remove it something bad will happen like the spring will jump out and I won't be able to get it back in or any other number of issues. Just wondering what i should do.

nope nothing needed but only remove 1 at a time (ie left -do your thing) then right- do your thing) unless the bike is on a lift.

If you don't have a motorcycle jack, just borrow a freind and a auto jack and do one side at a time. Easier to line up the holes to get the shock bolt back in

Yepper !!! One side at a time. Take your time to line things up. You should have no trouble.

You won't get the shocks off without supporting the weight of your bike. Slacken the shock nuts while the bike is on the ground. I used a scissor jack at the rear of the frame and lifted it until the wheel was just touching the ground. Then do each side as rooti suggested.
