Iuse mine on long Interstate stretches. I adjust the tension on mine to hold the throttle in one position, but still loose enough that I can turn it back whengoing downhill etc. It is a good thing to have on the long stretches. I don't necessarily "like" it, but it is nice to have.
Same here, I just wish it was easier to manipulate. I can't use it with my winter gloves on. When my left hand gets cold, I can lay it on top of the rear cylinder head to warm it up, but right hand just has to suffer.
I use just my thumb to operate the screw, Never have I "locked" it down like some seem to think or do. Just enough tension to keepthe throttle whereI set it, and as road conditions change, I can reach up and "adjust" the throttle. Some claim it is dangerous, I guess anything in the hands of a dumbass is dangerous!

I've only tried mine once on a back road with no traffic just to see if I liked it. I actually found it nice to be able to shake out my right hand & strech my fingers a little. Set just enough tension to hold the throttle where I wanted it, but could still manipulate it if necessary with no problem. Not something I'd wanna use in traffic though.

Same thing I do, I just can't manipulate the screw with my heavy duty winter gloves.
