Hey all I am really thinking of buying a superlow. I am really only concerting it because its been four months after the accident and the surgery that I am now starting to walk. So I want too try to get a bike that is light and nimble so that I ride again without to much trouble for my left leg and ankle. My question is how is the handling of this new sportster and lean angle I heard people complain of the lean angle? Also is this bike able to do couple day trips? Another reason why I like it is its low seat. Also I am only 5'1 and 170 pounds. Thanks for your input.

 

I have a 2011 superlow and I love it. I've had it a little over a year and have 11,000 plus. It's my first bike. The lean angle is a little short but after scraping a few times u learn where to stop. I've taken a weekend trip from St. Louis to Kansas City last fall over 800 miles with no problems. I did change the seat and added mods for comfort to fit the bike to me. I'm 5'4". Good luck!

I have a 2012 superlow I bought new last year,my first Harley in 50 years of riding.I LOVE this bike,brings back that feeling I had as a teenager.I put on Screamin Eagle slipons and that helped with the cornering.I'm 5'8" and 200 and the bike fits me perfect,even rides pretty smooth all things considered.I went with a Mustang Fastback seat and that moved me back about 2" and down about 1",helped me clear the footpegs when I put my feet down.There are better seats out there for distance riding,so look around.This is a great bike and gets around 52 mpg,even with the Stage1 filter and slipons.

Great bikes, they handle great and ride well too. The lean angle you will get used to and if you dont ride real agressive it wont ever be a problem. We have had ours on several trips and have 25,000 miles on it and couldnt be happier with it.

 

I have a 2011 Superlow with 7500 miles on it...like everyone else has said - I love it! I've been riding a couple of years and this is my 3rd and favorite bike. It's easy to handle, back-up, balance, etc. and, it's just a lot of fun to ride! I have no trouble keeping up with our HOG chapter when we go on rides. I did change out the stock seat for a Mustang seat (the one with the backrest), took of the stock foot pegs and put on mini-floorboards, added a windshield, remove able luggage rack and Bikers Friend luggage. I've only been on one long trip with it but it did great.

 

It handles great, I really enjoy mine. I have a '95 sporty and the difference is night and day between that and the Superlow. I was also impressed when we did a ride on a very windy day with gusts up to 30-40 mph and the bike had no problem with it - I would have thought it would have been a problem or much worse than it was. I'm only 5'2" - I'll be putting a mustang seat on it and different handlebars (possibly 10" mini-apes or a set of Flanders C7 bars I ran across - still deciding). I'm looking forward to doing some long trips on it.

 

I am also recovering from major surgery & I chose a sporty for the same reasons you're thinking about it.

I have one issue & that's trying to put down the sidestand. I battle my *** off.

Put on a left side solo bag & bought a fold up walking stick thats fits perfectly in there.

It's your inseams that matter. According to the Harley website, a stock Superlow has a laden seat height ot 25.5 inches. If you wear boots with 1 inch soles, you'll probably do ok.

 

Another 2011 SuperLow here. Take those darned silly spikes off the ends of the footrests. They limit cornering, also catch your feet and trousers, even your shins when walking around the garage while it is parked. They screw in and come off with a spanner.

 

Thanks guys for your input. Now I got a new concern and that Is the power. I had a v star 1100 and that pumped out like 65 ft. lbs. of torque vs the 883 50 lbs. Would the 883 have enough oomph when I need it like say on the highway? Thanks
