Default Forward controls with Mid dummys?

i have an 05 sporty and it came with forward controls when i bought it. im wondering where i can get a set of pegs for the mid controls that act as dummys jus to stretch legs in dif position on long rides? seen a few bikes like this but no details. love the forward controls i jus like to switch stance on long ride. any input would be great

I dont think it will work because the shift linkage wont be able to articulate with mid pegs still installed. I thought about this too when I added forwards. but realized it wouldn't work when I was down to the nitty-gritty.

Works better to have mid controls with forward dummies. Did this on mine and I now have three different positions in can put my legs in. Forward, mid and rear.

I personally like the shifting and braking with my feet up forward. SO maybe its just worth trying for a while, if you dont like it, you can always go back.

I know on my 09 street bob I can have both...Sorry I dont have the answer for your bike but i do know that for around $50 you could grab the stock pegs and bracket which is basically what your looking for just to rest the legs..Alot of people on ebay are selling the stock pegs but may be a little harder to find a used bracket but like always im sure harley has them in stock for a pretty penny..good luck!

I have mids with HD frame mount highway pegs that mount where forward controls are. For cruising forwards are the best for me from an all around comfort riding stance. For slapping turns i prefer mids. Best of both worlds.

I'm 6'1" and had to go with the forward controls. If I want to stretch my legs, i just hang my boots out over the pegs for a few miles. Works great.

No, with forward controls, the longer control rods interfere with the mid peg mounts.

Maybe it can be done with custom control rods. I know a guy with a 2003 V-Rod, they only came with fwd controls. He added mid controls (probably from a 2006 VRSCR Street Rod) & made linkage to connect them. Now he can shift & brake from either position.

I am in the process of doing this on my '12 seventy two. The left side bolts right on, no problem. The right side, the mount hits the brake linkage. I made a spacer with some nuts I had laying around the garage that are bigger than the bolt, put em between the mount and where it bolts to the frame. With the spacer it cleared the brake linkage.

Now I have to machine the piece that the peg mounts to. This is the piece that the brake pedal mounts to. I have to make it shorter because it sticks out a lot and it look weird because the brake pedal isnt there. Pics:

The diameter of the portion that goes into the mount is smaller than the rest. I want to put it on a lathe to make it smaller, cut it down, then mount it up (if that makes any sense) I might just do it with a bench grinder. It doesn't need to be perfect...

There you go, it is possible just start piecing together the parts from eBay and figure it out.
