Default I Just Got A 97 883 And Its Super Cold Natured Is This Normal?

I purchased a 1997 883 Sporty to tinker around with and make a bar hopper but its the most cold natured motorcycle I've ever seen. It has to warm up about 5 min before you can cut the choke off or give it any gas. But once it warms up runs like a champ. I normally wouldn't care but when i stop some. where to hang out everyone esle has to wait on me for my bike to warm up! Any suggestions or is this normal.

It's carbed. Mine does the same thing. I have to leave the enrichener out half way for the first 5 miles until she warms up. Higher octane gas helps. 91 minimum.

Mine is a 97 1200,the colder it is the longer you wait.
So yes it's normal, letting the engine warm up is easier on the engine anyway

Normal. I usually start mine with the choke all the way out and let it idle while I put on my helmet and gloves. After that I ride for a few minutes with the choke still out, then I push the choke in halfway. After riding a few more minutes, I push the choke all the way in. I also go real easy on the throttle during that warm-up period.

Perfectly normal. Anything under 45*F and my bike is finicky. Below freezing and it's a battle.

I've got an 06 883L. Yepper. Same deal here. Choke out, jacket, helmet and gloves on. Hop on Sporty and ride her easy for a few miles. My choke comes in by itself. Good to go. She will sneeze a bit when it's cold outside till she warms up, then she's good to go.
