Have to agree.....practice, practice, practice
I am 5'4" and 120lbs soaking wet and when I first got my 1200C I thought I would never get it off the stand....couple of times and I was good to go....
I was always told if you can get it up off the stand, then you can ride it
Keep practicing and ride safe!

Keep riding the bike and improve your skills. After a while, could be 12 months you won't notice the weight.
Always park the back of the bike downhill.
Take opportunities to ride with other Sportster riders and watch and learn from them.

I don't know why, but a stock Sportster always seems topheavy to me. You'll get used to it, but your skills sound like they could use a little improvement. Keep up the riding and you'll soon be a pro.

Hey friend,i went with the 1200custom sporty just had open
heart surgery 7 months ago,i beg to differ on leg strenth mine
is fine,but ive been there it takes more upper chest and arm strenth,than legs i found that out quick,after loosing at least
%50 percent,of upper body strenth,but im getting use to it Quick,look i not giving up so you dont eiether,just Practice
Im glad you went from a Yamaha to a Harley,just kidding
