I just want to check on this: is it normal for the springs in the fork to make noise when they compress. I put in longer damper rods, measured my oil at 5.75 in from the top while the tubes were off the bike, my spacer I left the same. I don't remember hearing the forks before and I am just wondering if this is normal on sportsters other than lowered models because I basically turned my 883 low suspension to a roadster suspension.

 

As long as the bike is not on, I can hear my suspension work. It's just oil flowing through holes, so you'll hear it if it is quiet enough.

 

Slider tubes for a Low and a Roadster are different. The Low version may be shorter. What's your objective? More ride height?

 

Not hight, just a little more room to flex.
