Default clutch cable screw thing snapping problem

hey guys, im having a little problem here, hopefully you guys can help me out.
i was giving my clutch cable a lube yesterday. as i was screwing this derby cover side of the cable back into the casing, the part which goes inside (red arrow) snapped off inside.
agggghhh!
so i ****ed up somehow, wasnt even screwing that hard, wasnt being heavy handed.

so any advise(question mark key not working, damn it)

(1)will i have to replace the whole clutch cable.
(2)can i just change that part.
(3)how will i get the part thats inside, out so i can screw the new part in
(4) any way to stop the oil leaking out until i can get it fixed.
(5) am i **** outta luck and gotta dig deep into my empty bank account

i would take it straight to harley to fix but im ***** deep in debt at the minute.
cant really afford harley mechanic labour.

thanks for any help or advise

Looks like you're gonna have to replace the clutch cable. If you don't have a manual, you may want to pick one up. Also, you should be able to find a video or 2 of this on You Tube. Hopefully once you drain the tranny, loosen the clutch cable for removal, pull the cover off the tranny and free the old cable from inside the transmission you will be able to back the broke part back out of the cover. If not, you may have to cut the old cable loose from the cover and use an easy out or some other tool to back it out. Keep us posted.

73oldsman said it pretty well. Definitely going to need a new cable, and you may have to cut the end to get it out of the cover if it won't slide out. Then you need to make sure the threads are clear for the new one.

Also, it's only like 3 ft-lbs on that cable where it enters the case.

+1 - And I know it's not going to make you feel any better when I tell you that your cable is Teflon lined, and is NOT supposed to be lubed.

I don't recall the year exactly, but I think it was about 2007 that HD switched to Teflon lined cables.

2 more weeks and I'll have my first sportster. And I'm already wondering why the sportster doesn't have a 'normal' hydraulic clutch like any other bike.. Don't answer, I'll look it up
