Default First 2up with wife

So Ive been trying to get my wife on the back of my bike for a while. Shes a little overweight and she thought she would be too big for me to handle the added weight. I was finally able to trick her on the bike with an early gift of her own helmet. I had read so many complaints about 2upping on a Sporty, that I was worried it would be too tight and she wouldnt like it. We ended up having a great ride that she really enjoyed. Im 5'7 and shes 5'2, so we weren't that cramped, and for the most part, it really wasnt that much different than riding alone. We never bottomed out but I do think new rear shocks will make for a smoother ride. Anyway. it was a great experience and I look forward to lots of future time together on two wheels. I just loved having her back there. I think that the Sundowner made the difference, as her only complaint was the backrest. I think a higher one will do the trick.

On a side note, she was, well lets just say VERY affectionate, when we arrived home. Nice little added bonus. LOL

What size is your backrest? I may be getting rid of my mid one. Since I put my Bassani's on, the rear pegs had to come off, and I've switched to a solo seat and am having a bobtail fender (no rear support brace) painted at a local body shop.

Very nice . Wife and I go 2up all the time. Mustang seat & progressive 412 Hd and she is happy. When we ride in groups with the sofas, they all complain on the twisties as I can take them faster even with the wife on . Have fun .

Try one that comes up to the middle of her back with a larger back pad it will give a more secure feeling in the twisties and more comfort on longer rides
also try preloading your rear shocks up a notch or 2 on your next ride with her

Congrats to you and the wife. I wish that I could get my wife on the bike, but she's firmly convinced that death awaits at every turn. She's right, of course, but I've managed to cheat him every time so far. That doesn't seem to be enough consolation for her.

I do take my kid on the bike. With our combined 350lb.s, we bottom out the '01 XLH but not the '07 XLC. Still, I'm going to upgrade the suspension with Progressive shocks and springs this Summer.
