Dealer parts guy told me the SE is not reusable like the K & N. I had issues with the materials the K & N is made of. Although they made good on it and refunded my money.
******, what was the issue if you don't mind my asking? I have a K & N on my deuce and am interested.

there was a problem with the material in the first s/e filters made for the 04. it would get pin holes in it .
they have since changed and the correct filter has a b designation . if you have an old one h-d will replace it free of charge , the stealer told me he had no knowledge of the problem so I called customer support and in about 30 minutes I had a phone call to bring the old filter in and they would replace it and if that didnt fix the problem they would continue to replace the filter until it was right. ten thousand miles later I have no problems and all you do is rinse it in mild detergent and then clear water let it dry and your good to go , just dont let the wife catch you using her dawn dishwashing liquid and cleaning the filter in the kitchen sink. not that I ever done that[sm=bicker.gif]

The back of the Filter is made of some kind of rubber like material, after one Carb fart the throat that fits into the carb throat was mis shappen or ovalized and the two crankcase breather ports were split.

I've got the SE II air cleaner. It was on the bike when i boguht it and it had the original blue rubber filter they had problems with that jwb47 was talking about. I took it off at about 10,000 miles and it was pretty dirty andI saw a couple of pinholes in it. I went ahead and replaced it for the newer black rubber one and it was about $26 I think, butI didn't know you could clean it. Are you sure that won't hurt it jwb47?
