Default Handle bar question/help

Hello All,
Are the stock bars on my 2012 Seventy Two 12"?
Are they standard or narrow?
Where do you measure from, the highest to lowest point? (See attached pic, those aren't mine, just grabbed a pic off google).
The reason I'm asking is I want to replace them with some Z type bars, but want to keep the same dimensions and I'm not sure what size to order.

Thanks and Merry Christmas Everyone.

These are the ones I'm looking to get, LA Choppers 12"
Are these similar in size to my stock bars?

I've never measured them, but they look to me to be a standard width with a 12" rise. I think the Z-bars will also look good. I'm thinking after Christmas...maybe around tax time, dumping my drag bars for a set of 12" apes. PM me if you make the change...maybe we can work something out for your OEM bars.

Sounds good, I plan on doing this in January sometime.

Okay zero answers and one reply out of 95 views. I thought this would be an easy one.

Default 72 rise question

If I remember correctly, from what I have read, the OEM bars are 10" with a 2" riser. The rise on bars are measured from the horizontal bottom that would mount to the frame(in this case inside the riser) and the horizontal line across the top where your grips mount. The vertical space in between these two horizontal areas is your amount of rise.. so specifically, your 12" LA Choppers should be 2" taller than stock mini apes...

feel free to correct me if I am wrong..

also just saw pic posted that explains how to measure rise

I measured the bars on a 72 in the dealership yeasterday, getting ready for my January project:
Model 72 Bar 11" rise, measured center-to-center, 32" wide, 2" riser measured from bottom-to-center.

So expect the 12" apes to be an inch taller.

I realized I didn't answer your questions...

Are they standard or narrow?
Where do you measure from

The 72 bars are the standard base width for a Sportster, ie narrow glide. Not like the 12-13" base on some big twins.

The important question is how does your vendor measure? The ones I've seen go center to center for rise.

If you are buying bars online, where you can't hold 'em next to your bike, look at:
rise
width
base width
knurl spacing
pullback
tube diameter - you need 1" dia. at the grips and clamp areas
dimpled?

Thanks for the replies. I think the ones I want may work as I was wanting to go about an inch or two higher. I'll see if I can get the specs from LA choppers and compare. Thanks again for the help.

IIRC the OEM 72 bars are 10.5"
