Default Passing Lamps

Has any body installed HD passing lamps to there sportster, 1200 or 883???? Is there enough current being put out by the alternator to handle the extra draw, JP cycle claims there is minimim amps to run stock lamps, head light, turn signals, brake, and of course starting the bike, there fore according to JP cycles if you install passing lamps the battery will constantly have to be charged by a charger or ie,

I installed the aux lights on my 06 1200c, mainly due to the fact I travel down country roads after midnite from work. It sure made a difference lighting up theroad.I have never needed to charge my battery, but I didn't run the lights all the time. I rode her for a yr (before trading for a 07 Heritage) without any problems. If you have any doubts, just connect it to a charger.

I've got 'em on my 05 883C; haven't had any problems. I turn them off before starting the bike, though.

The ones on the OL's 1200L work fine. Make sure that they are installed exactly according to the instructions though. They are supposed to work only when the headlight is on lowbeam. Passing lamps and highbeam together will pull too much current.

If you do get them, you will notice a slight reduction in near misses because three lights across give the few cagers who are paying attention a better clue as to how close you are and how fast you are comming toward them.

I have 2 35 watters on mine and have not noticed any problems with high beam or low beam. During the day I run high beam with the auxs and low beam at night. Much better lighting at night and it seems folks pay a little more attention with 3 lights coming at them, day or night...

I installed the HD Passing lamps. They are always on exept when I use the high beams. The same time I installed the passing lamps I installed the HD converter that turns rear directionals into turn/brake lights. No problems. Go for it.

I have the light bar from National Cycle, never had a problem, only run them at night to see better. Hey Testflyer the HD chrome ones will run apporoximatley 260-300 depending on where you buy them. The one I got was about 270, then another 32 for the switch. As far as labor goes I couldn't tell you, I did it myself, it really is a simple project and all the hardware is included.
